Students graduating from the Indian institutes of technology (IIT) are increasingly choosing to remain in their home country as opposed to moving to the US, it has been suggested.
According to figures produced by Evalueserve, while 35 per cent of such people between the years of 1964 and 2001 moved to the US, since 2002, this statistic has fallen to 16 per cent.
It was also found that recent IIT graduates believe that India will be the most promising location for them in ten years time.
The Evalueserve report stated: "It is well known that graduates from the IITs have historically preferred to move to the US or other countries to pursue higher studies and explore more attractive career opportunities. However, preferences have changed."
In other graduate news, research published last month by Ipsos Mori suggested that increasing numbers of UK school pupils intend to complete a degree, with nearly three-quarters of those questioned reporting such a desire.
