The international animation industry is eyeing the east, due to the rising costs of real sets, studio space and outdoor locations in the west. Western regions (mainly the US) were outsourcing many of their projects to India to produce high-budget films, ad promos and games.
According to NASSCOM figures, India has approximately received more than USD 2 billion worth of animation business. Further, it also states that India’s animation industry is likely to require approximately 40,000 animation professionals. 
According to an Anderson Consulting forecast, India’s animation industry is expected to grow to USD 15 billion by 2008.
