NDTV recently launched NDTV MetroNation, the nation's first English city channel. The new channel offers its customers comprehensive/detailed, user-friendly information about lifestyles and current trends. MetroNation is a 24-hour channel offering four broad categories of programmes - News and Current Affairs, Lifestyle, Entertainment and Youth.

Announcing the launch of the channel, Dr. Prannoy Roy, NDTV Chairman, said, "We firmly believe that the future of news lies in going local. Local news is the rule of thumb in America. And in India, NDTV is the first mover. The few vernacular channels that exist for local news in India are quite different in their appeal. This is a high-end easy-access channel aimed at the young Urban Indian".

Sanjay Nigam, NDTV MetroNation CEO, said, "Delhi is evolving at a break-neck speed and yet there is no English channel catering exclusively to this vibrant city. NDTV MetroNation will broadcast the non-stop action of Delhi with our young, new and dynamic team of reporters and anchors. The channel will work with our viewers to fight for a city we love. It will showcase the modern Delhi life and the change it is forcing".

Advertising its catchy slogan, 'Starring Delhi, Every Second, Every Day', MetroNation will introduce a range of interactive programmes. The channel plans to introduce MetroNation Bus, MetroNation Taxi and MetroNation Helicopter in the city to ensure a high citywide penetration. The channel also plans to operate out of a "MetroNation Bus" and not through a studio. The modified, all-glass bus will move across Delhi, as the hosts gather the latest news from different locations across the city.

MetroNation taxis will move around Delhi to invite the opinions of citizens, which would be broadcast. The channel will also offer live traffic news every twenty minutes, with the help of MetroNation helicopter which will shoot the pictures of the important parts of the city.

NDTV MetroNation plans to partner with Delhi's top institutions for a weekly show, 'I Spy with My Digital Eye'. The show will involve students equipped with NDTV cameras reporting stories for the channel. The channel will also host a show 'This Delhi Life', providing a platform for citizens to voice their concerns. This is likely to help experts discover issues faced by Delhiites. Adding colour to MetroNation's entertainment programmes is a show, 'A Hipster's guide to Delhi', which will concentrate on the activities of Delhi's movers and shakers.

With such a wide variety of programmes being offered, the channel plans to cater to all age groups and capture a large audience.
