Saving Time and Effort: Optimizing Cycle Stock in the Logistics Industry

The Challenge

When encountering inventory supply and demand issues, it can be difficult consistently fulfilling customer’s orders while also managing inventory costs. Many organizations rely on a manual tracking system, leaving the user vulnerable to being overwhelmed when encountering high volume orders. A distribution center that experienced these order management issues relied on an excel sheet to track orders. However, the sheer volume of these orders made this system challenging to maintain, resulting in multiple orders being inconsistently fulfilled.

Evalueserve was tasked with developing a solution that can handle high volume inventory across four distribution centers, while providing continuously updated insights for the client and their stakeholders. The Evalueserve team prioritized order generation and cycle stock balance by using statistical order management solutions and stock-out predictions.

Our Solution

When formulating the statistical solution to manage the client’s orders, an emphasis was placed on maximizing the client’s efforts to meet demand. Many of the insights that we provided to the client focused around three crucial questions: What needs to be ordered, how much should be ordered, and how much inventory can fit into a ship pack. These questions helped build the foundation of how the intuitive dashboard would be built, since the answers would help create overall efficiency for the client.

The solution culminated into an automated platform that can spot inconsistencies in cycle stocks and ship packs, and then automatically tailor a solution specific  to the nature of inconsistencies found.

Intuitive Order Management Dashboard

The Evalueserve team developed an automotive platform that generates order and balance cycle stock, based on all associated costs and inventory segmentation. This helped the client optimize their current inventory management system, since the platform now provides insight into key details such as warehouse capacity and inventory transport status. The client can use these insights to easily track and record order fulfillment, while balancing the cycle stock throughout multiple distribution centers.

Business Impact

Through the use of the intuitive dashboard, the client and their shareholders were able to gain key insight into the details of multiple distribution centers such as: exact capacity, movement of inventory from distribution center to destination, and the frequency of inventory orders. These key insights helped the client make well-informed decisions when moving cycle stock, due to raised awareness of their order management process.

Cost-effective outcomes

The intuitive dashboard brings crucial insights to the client and their shareholders, enabling economically benefitcial decisions to be made.

Conserving effort and time

Statistical solutions considering the each inventory's information is delivered straight to the client, giving them more time to focus on other crucial tasks.
