Transport, Travel, Logistics & Infrastructure 2023 Mid-Year Analysis

Overview

This report presents an assessment of the prevailing industry landscape for H1 of 2023, encompassing both the present and future state of the Transportation, Tourism and Logistics (T&L) sector and a comprehensive examination of trends and developments within this industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic left an undeniable mark on all the industries across the TTL/I vertical, bringing major disruptions for air travel, disturbances throughout the logistics value chain and slowdown in the tourism sector. However, as of May 2023, the WHO has officially announced the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, two months after China, one of the countries with the strictest policies around the pandemic, has lifted its travel restrictions. Apart from the pandemic, other factors, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the need to prepare for the ever more pressing climate crisis and the increasing need for adopting digitalization and technological changes have been pressuring the TTL/I industries into change.

Considering this, H1 2023 was a time of stabilization after the subsequent crises that have emerged in the past years. Markets and companies alike had to adapt to new norms, conditions, and customer demands, while striving to maintain profitability, to improve safety and to meet demands for resilience and sustainability in their operations.
